Schertler Guitars And Their Parts

By Judy Sullivan

Stefan Schertler is a great producer of transducers and pickups for acoustic equipment. He is from Switzerland and he began his job in the early 80s. Since his first invention, it is over thirty years of ongoing development and research. Acoustic amplification instruments manufactured by this gentleman are becoming a point of reference in the world of music. New acoustic from this guy could be ordered from famous brands such as Santa Cruz, Martin, and Gibson. The acoustics contain bluestick pickups from Schertler loaded onboard.

Guitars produced by this designer are professional and meant for use by individuals of varying levels of skills. The products are made to appear as beautiful as the sounds they produce. The neck, top, and sides are made in unique ways to make them stand out. The 2007 business partnership with Claudio Pagelli has enhanced the guitars even further.

The tops are made using Swiss alpine spruce moonwood. Moon wood is defined in the encyclopedia as wood that in view of tradition exhibits unique and outstanding characteristics. The unique characteristics are as a result of felling during specific phases of the moon. Certain moon-related felling practices have been carried on through several generations and have shown to be helpful in certain timber industries.

The Schertler guitars have the headstock reinforced with a piece of ebony timber that is three millimeters thick. The reinforcement is intended to produce better tones and to create an excellent optical effect that elongated fingerboards produce. The headstocks are also lightweight and add to the general balance of necks and show the original Schertler appliance-heads. Knobs are made from ebony wood and are of greatest quality with time-less elegance.

The bridge is made from ebony wood to ensure a stylishly flat surface. Flat surfaces are vital for uniform response from the electro-static Bluestick under-saddle pickups. Under-saddles are carved into bone and are accurately fixed to offer strings an angle of 12 degrees. The exact placement of saddles facilitates transmission of string vibrations with efficacy. It also offers better compensation in tuning whenever string action is lowered and/or raised.

The satin mahogany made necks have ebony fingerboards that have flat profiles to enable the players of the device to enjoy it more. Steel-string makes have truss rods that allow adjustments in either way to get a nice shape on the necks in any position. Resistance of the necks in classical versions is enhanced by glass fiber rods. The nuts are constructed from bone.

The binding is made from fine rosewood, contrasted by elegant binding line in maple. The guitars come in a variety of makes. There are those that produce bass, alto, tenor, soprano, and a mixture of all the sounds. The leather strings that come with them render them easy to lift and handle around. The sizes, shapes, colors also vary, giving one a wide choice to pick from.

Schertler guitars and acoustic equipment can be bought from a couple of worldwide dealers. They are not as costly as one might think, although performance is a guaranteed feature. For a special musical moment, these appliances are the real deal.
