The Symbolic Meaning Of Trees

By Linda Ruiz

One of the most revered and respected entities in the entire world would be none other than the tree. The tree is in fact one of the most respected entities because of all the things that it would symbolize. For many years now many cultures have seen this entity as a mystical and supernatural being that embodies a lot of knowledge of the universe. Now if one would want to know the symbolic meaning of trees, here are a few that can be named.

Probably one of the most common of all symbolisms would actually be strength and resiliency. No matter where it is placed and no matter how hard the weather conditions may be, it will always be able to withstand hardships. Its roots would represent its will to withstand the pressures and its trunk represents its iron strength.

The Celtic race also had their interpretation of this respected entity. Now they believed that trees were an embodiment of knowledge and wisdom simply because they could live up to a hundred years. Because of this, it is actually able to witness a lot of things that would happen around him and would therefore acquire a lot of wisdom of life.

Now the Bible also had its own metaphorical meaning when it comes to this entity which is mentioned in the story of Adam and Eve. Now there are two main trees that are mentioned in the story of the creation of mankind which can be found in the book of Genesis. These two are known as the tree of life and the tree of good and evil.

Now looking at the metaphorical meaning of the trees, one can infer that these two trees would symbolize the production of something new. Now the tree of life represented life itself and the tree of knowledge represented knowledge of all things in the world. Both would symbolize the birth of an entirely new idea as the fruit would symbolize the idea.

In many cultures, the tree is believed to symbolize equality and centrality. This entity has no gender nor does it have any side. It just stays there, flourishes, and gives its fruit to the people. It is for this reason that many cultures believe this entity to be the epitome of balance because it possesses an equal amount of each converse trait.

Now one very common symbolism for the tree is definitely motherhood. This entity would carry all the traits that a mother would. These entities give food for people to eat, a home for animals to seek shelter, and protection to everyone who lives under it from the harsh weather conditions of the earth.

Now the last on the list would be that it represents everything that is all natural. Now trees are actually a direct representation of nature itself because it is actually one of the very first things to be created in nature. It is because of this reason that many people see this entity as the embodiment of nature.
