Show Off Curves With Fashionable Plus Size Dresses

By Carl Harris

When it comes to having a versatile wardrobe, something that is practical that can be worn at almost any occasion is the way to go. Ideal pieces may be a nice button down shirt that is easy to care for, or a pair of pants that are slimming. However, fashionable plus size dresses are often an underrated must for any closet.

Sometimes women who wear larger sizes may feel that a dress is impractical. This may have once been the case but these days, there is something for just about every body type. Clothing designers now realize that one size does not necessarily fit all. Body shapes are just as different as people.

This means different cuts and details that complement fuller figures. Some are meant to enhance features such as a smaller waistline or downplay problem areas, such as a large bust line. There was once a period where if a woman wanted to achieve this, they would have to wear supportive underwear, which could be constricting.

There was also once a time when plus sized clothing was made for a woman of average height but this has changed for the better, as well. Clothing manufacturers have finally realized that females come in various sizes and want something that fits right off the rack. This means women who are tall or short will have more to choose from and not have to worry about getting it professionally altered.

Dresses of today are ideal for anyone that desires minimal maintenance. Synthetic blends like microfiber come in textures that are ideal for dressy occasions and can be essential in hiding minor imperfections. Materials like spandex, or spandex blends are also great for concealing certain areas or light control.

Because there are so many body shapes for a designer to cater to, some dress styles almost never go out of style. In recent years, the A line dress has been more popular than ever. This style, with its small waistline and flared bottom, is ideal for those who are pear shaped or bottom heavy.

Besides the cut of the dress, designers are becoming more aware which colors and textile patterns complement fuller sizes. Ages ago, either black, dark blue or earth tones were the safest choices for a woman of size because they did not want to stand out. However, the growing size empowerment movement has given women all over the confidence to wear bright, bold colors that can be accessorized.

Even if a woman likes to keep their dresses simple, they can still find many ways to accessorize. Bright or metallic jewelry that is chunky in size is one way to liven outfits. Another way would be to add an assortment of bright or lightly colored bead strands to the wrist or as a necklace.

There are many benefits to having at least a couple of dresses in the closet, as maintenance is minimal and they can be flattering. Those made from lightweight fabrics are ideal for wash and wear and can be a nice change from wearing a two piece outfit. Larger sizes have the right to variety like anyone else.
