By Melissa Wilson

Islam is one of the religions that are identified worldwide due to their rich culture and attire. They are famous for their Modest Islamic Clothing that easily differentiates them from other people. They are also distributed throughout the world although they tend to differ due to the different geographical locations, climate, traditions and social status.

The Islam clothe as a way of showing their belief and values. It is essential that the clothes should be appear decent and modest, however simple they are they are attractive. The common materials used in making the clothes are cotton thus the clothes are mainly suitable for hot and humid climates. Although the clothes might seem similar they all differ from the other.

The Islamic attires are divided into two main categories Islamic urban wear and rural wear. The turban wears are costly as they are highly fashionable. They mainly consist of shirt and pant suits, the traditional jubbah and pajamas. Rural wear consist of simple salwar-kurta and the facial black Burkha for the women and the cotton pajamas and jubbah for the men.

A hijab is the most important Islamic garment especially for the women. There are different concepts involving the wearing of these garments due to the difference in cultures, and changes in time that has affected the way they are used, worn, importance and styles of the hijab. This thus has led to the different rules for example in Saudi Arabia, Islamic women should always be covered in a hijab when in a public place while France and Turkey prohibit hijabs in schools.

Different culture have different types of hijabs. The main difference in the types of hijabs is due to religion and cultures. A simple example is the difference in the hijab used in India and Pakistan are the burqa while in Middle East the type used is abaya. The burqa is a two piece set often in black which consist of a head covering and a gown. The abaya covers the whole body from head to toe and is often embroidered.

To reduce the sexual attraction the woman or man draws, the clothes need to be loose. The loose clothing hides the outline of the shape of ones body from view by the public. It is also a rule to ensure that the real color of the skin should also be hidden from view. Wearing dark and thick clothes will help ensure this. In addition the Islam are also barred from wearing clothes that are shiny and bright as they tend to overpower the overall modesty.

Men are also required to cover up their heads as the women using turbans or scarves. The often one used is the kuffiyya which is a checkered scarf. Time has though changed the traditions as men now are required to cover their heads only when attending religious events or at the religious grounds.

Anyone who wants to buy an Islamic attire can acquire them from many wholesale markets as well as online stores. The online stores are a better option as they sell their merchandise at high discount rates.
