Concepts In CNC Machine Video Training

By Brian Butler

Machines that executes control commands that are programmed beforehand are called Computer Numerical control machines. Transforming stock materials like blocks of metal, plastic or wood into a finished product is its use. Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing are used in making digital designs interpreted into instructions used in cutting parts.

You may be interested in learning the process in operating them for various reasons. This could be a career you have been wanting to pursue or a business idea that you want to realize. Whatever it may be, watching a CNC machine video training would be very helpful in familiarizing the various steps and ideas that will be mentioned here.

The basic overview of the process of creating something using the CNC machine starts with making the design first. This can be achieved with the use of a CAD software in your personal computer. This will then be translated by the CAM software into directives that will then be converted into specific commands or codes for CNC machines.

The program codes will then be tested by an operator to make sure no problems will happen. This is an important part of the process sometime called as cutting air. Because if there are any mistakes regarding the speed and the position of the tools then this may result in having a scrapped part or damaged machine.

CNC machines have generally two categories. These categories are called conventional and novel technologies. Conventional uses tools which are physical in nature such as drills, milling machines and lathes. In drills, the drill bit is rotated and moved into contact against the stationary stock material. In lathes, the drill bit is not rotated but the material instead which will then be cut when they both make contact with each other.

Meanwhile, novel technologies are using specialized cutting techniques. The techniques include plasma cutting, water jet cutting, laser cutting machine and electronic beam machining. These techniques are usually used in manufacturing a great number of materials made out of durable metals. Conventional are used commonly in making prototypes.

There are many materials that can be used as well. Examples of these are wood, plastics, fiberglass, copper, steel and other metals. This will all depend on the object you want to create and the uses you have for it in mind. The wide range of materials available for use here is one of its advantages over 3D printing.

Objects and the parts for it were manually machined before resulting in large margins of error. Using CNC machines, it can lessen the margin of error to a minimum and the process repeated a number of times with precision. Making of complex shapes is also possible. Companies use these in mass production for their products and the parts of it because of its ability to repeat various processes while the precision is still maintained in all the objects created.

These are the basic overview and information regarding the processes in CNC machining. You could watch videos for training to give yourself a clearer picture of the things presented here. In learning this, a background in mechanical drafting, industrial arts and mathematics can be useful.
