Qualities Of A Good Insect Photography Prints For Sale

By Claudine Hodges

They say that a picture can paint a thousand words. Some will argue that this is not necessarily true. After all, words are the major means by which you can convey a clear message. One image could mean several things for different people. But while other see that as a disadvantage, those who love art appreciates it.

Many photography subjects are gaining popularity right now. Imagination is the limit when it comes to choosing what looks good in the lens. Among the top picks are the insect subjects. They are interesting, unique and are natural. This is the reason behind the proliferation of insect photography prints for sale. There is a certain market that demands photographer to take a picture of these creatures especially in Harrisonburg city in VA.

If you belong to this market, you should have at least the basic idea on what to consider when buying a copy. You are paying for it after all. Maximize the opportunity by picking the best. If you have a friend who is a professional photographer, then this should not be difficult. You just have to ask him. However, if you do not know when to start, you can check the list we have today.

Try to look at the composition. The general rule is if the photo looks good, then it must have a good composition. If something looks out of place, then it has a bad one. Examine the image and check if all the important details are included. It does not need to include the full extent of the background. Even a single leaf as the background is enough as long as it is not cut off.

Focus. You should be able to see a clear focus on the photo. Regardless of how small the chosen subject, as typical of insects, you should be able to see the clarity of the detail placed on it. A good focus would allow the viewer to see which among the elements present in the area should be given more attention. It also gives you an idea what the image is all about.

Third is the story. It is difficult to think of a story when you are looking at a black bug. Stories are normally associated with humans and their emotions, so looking for it on insects may not make sense. But there are great stories among these small creatures. A good example would be a close up shot of an ant carrying a grain of rice.

Contrast. There are times when it is easier to see something when its opposite is visible. For instance, it is easier to see a single black dot if it is against a white background. If you are taking a photo of a lady bug with a black and red color, you can contrast it with the green background of the forest. Contrast can come in many form. It could be the size, shape and color of your subjects.

Look at its clarity. A photo which is blurry is a turn off. There is what we call a strategic blur and the unnecessary one. Blurring is fine if it is meant to highlight the subject. It also looks good as a whole. The unnecessary is purely not of quality. Be mindful of the details.

You do not need to be an expert to pick the right insect photo to buy. You just need to be guided accordingly as to the right characteristics to consider. Try to think as well of your purpose in buying the printed material or the location where you want to have it placed in case it is for display.
