Precise Left Hand Violin Hold

This is one of the fundamental skills that a learner should start with. In addition, it is also important to look at the form of the body and the posture while playing it.

As you can observe, violinists usually have that classy, elegant, and graceful movements. They do not move too much because that could affect the production of sound. The usual focus in learning the violin is the left hand position and the posture. It usually begins with practicing the correct posture. The thumb should be straight while the tip should be placed on the top part of the fingerboard.

The wrist, on the other hand should be positioned straight and the arm should directly be under the fingerboard. It should also be straight and not pointed down. As much as possible, you have to keep your hand, wrist, and fingers relaxed while hitting the basic chords.

While holding that position, try to produce a sound by hitting a basic chord with your fingers. Do not worry too much of you cannot make a perfect melody. Practice this time and time again until you get the perfect position and posture. Your instructor will teach you how to hit the notes properly. It does not matter if you stop from one chord to the next as long as you can become familiar with the finger positions first.

Your shoulder, in addition, should also be relaxed. A good posture will help as well in relaxing all your muscles.
