Tips In Practicing Fashion Style Drawing In Paper

By Tammie Caldwell

Feeling satisfied with a task is a matter of whether you did your best to accomplish it, or is it just for compliance. You know better what you love. And it is by acting on that passion that you start to see meaning on the effort and time you spend in doing it.

If you admire people who have been very successful in their field, then you should be aware as well of the effort that they gave just accomplish that something. Fashion style drawing for instance is a practice that may seem simple, but has greatly helped a lot of designers at present in developing their skills. Its the love for something, the dedication you place on it, and the faith that you have that can make a difference on things.

As long as you have decided on making the first step to improving your skills, you can then find time to do something about it. Mind you, the road is not easy. But doing something is better than continually wondering what it would feel like to this and that. Here are some tips that you can use when practicing the craft on paper.

Start with the tools. Before you can start drawing, it is suggested that you secure the tools that you will use first. They do not have to be very fancy. As long as you can draw the design that you have in mind, then it will already do. Any clean sheet of paper will do. If you are planning to have a clear documentation of it however, keeping a sketch pad or a binder might be a good idea.

Concept. One fundamental factor that affects the development of something is the concept that you have on it. For a craft that involves a lot about creating something unique and good looking, conceptualizing is very important. Be sure to spend some time for this mental activity.

Choose a convenient time and place. When it comes to making your craft, having the right place where you can concentrate and think without disturbance is vital. Also, it could help if you select a time that you are free. You do not have to sacrifice your other responsibilities for practicing. You just have to get rid of those activities that you do not need and spare those moments for practice.

Practice discipline. There are times when we feel discouraged about something that we do especially when we are not seeing some immediate rewards of whatever we are doing. It is only discipline that keeps us from doing it even if we dont feel like drawing something.

Get someone who can offer you comments. Sometimes, you will need the inputs of other people about the works that you have. If the feedback come from an expert, then the bigger the chance for you to improve your work based on what they suggest. Of course, at the end of the day, you will still be the judge if you want to pursue whatever you are working. But it does not hurt to hear what other people have to say as well.

There is no shortcut to learning a skill. Even those who are naturally gifted on the craft will need regular practice to be better at what they do. Make up your mind on what you want to pursue, and do something to nurture it now.
