By Amanda Brooks

Human beings have always been very competitive with each other. Like how wild animals compete to survive and get the needed food to live on, humans do this as well. There are many things that people do in live on, but in the recent centuries, competitions became more common among different cultures that allowed it.

These competitions have many different forms. From princes and princesses that fight with each other to be the one that will inherit the throne to the selling of goods and merchandise. The ultimate form of competition though, exists in games. Sports have been around for centuries but UNC Charlotte womens sportswear is modern wear for those that participate.

When it was first introduced, the purpose of having sporting activities was to act as training. The cadets that are required during the ancient times where required to perform well in various feats of sportsmanship and athletics to prove their worth to the army. Women are also trained and are allowed to participate in sporting events as well.

The same principle also applies to team games. The origins of it are fairly the same as the first one. Soldiers are required to compete with each other. But the aim for this exercise is to train the recruits in teamwork. They will be placed in different squads and tasked to face off in different events, the most likely one being a mock battle to simulate battlefield situations.

Unlike the modern sporting events of today, the ancient world had different rules and customs to their events. In Sparta, women were shown to actively compete with their male counterparts in the various events that have held, like hunting and wresting. This proved how tough and strong the Spartan women were compared to their contemporaries.

In Greece, the famous Olympics were established sometime around the classical period. The original purpose of doing so was to offer up worship to the gods of Olympus, namely Zeus, and appease them. The games eventually became a way for city states to show off the prowess of their champions. Women were allowed to compete in these games as well and of often against men in certain event that were held.

When the Romans had taken over the Greeks, they also adapted the culture that the Greeks had with them. In contrast to others, females were not directly allowed to participate in games and sporting events. The most famous of Roman sporting events that took place at the coliseum were chariot races.

More modern world was been inclusive of female participation. In almost all forms of sport, girls are allowed to participate. They even compete with the male counterparts they have during such events.

Thanks to more progress in equality, the sporting world has become more accepting of participants that are not male. Because of this, the opportunities for each one is now better than what it was during the past. Many are now able to do as they like without any worry of constriction of the state or of governments.
