Cheap Parking at Great American Ballpark

By Jake Cain

Free parking is easily obtainable in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. You really just need to know where to seek it. Lets start off with the $2 garage.

If you are frugal like me, the on of the finest places to park is the garage on 6th St. near Broadway. The wonderful part is its never packed. The other awesome thing is the walk to/from Great American Ballpark is similar length to the $10 lots.

If $2 is out of your price range, you can frequently park for free In Cincinnati, most parking meters are only watched 8am - 6pm Monday through Saturday (it will say on the meter).

The perfect thing to do is to be driving on 3rd street a few moments just before 6. All the metered parking on the left turns into a free for all about that time. If you get an on-street spot there, you are a parking master. You will be about a Corey Patterson throws distance from Great American Ballpark and it cost you nothing at all!

If you don't mind to walk a small bit to Great American Ballpark, there is a lot more free parking available in Covington and Newport KY. On road parking in Covington usually isn't metered at all, but if it is they usually aren't monitored after 6 either. We used to reside in the 600 block of Greenup St. and just walk from our residence. Your best bets for on street parking are likely Greenup, Scott, and Garrard which all run North to South. It will be about a 15 minute trip over the bridge.

From there you can walk across the blue suspension bridge and enter into the right field entrance. If you are walking that way, you want to take the side of the bridge nearest to the stadium (right), you will get there faster. That side gives you stairs down to the street level by the Great American Ballpark right field gate.

Due to the rise in level of reputation of Newport, free parking is complicated to find. I like to eat at Dixie Chili, and park my car there on the street and walk. That is on Monmouth St. which runs N to S in the heart of Newport. There are more metered spots in the neighborhood now, but again they are free after 6. The yellow bridge you walk across from Newport will drop you off by the US Bank Arena. Again on that bridge, walk across the side nearest to Great American Ballpark for the speedier path (left). It will give you a stairway to the left field gates. You now have plenty of solutions so you can stop worrying about highly-priced parking.

Parking doesn't have to be highly-priced, nor does the rest of your trip to Great American Ballpark.
