By Debra Cooley

Safety of workers and family members is very important and this is why you should have protective clothing and equipments to use when working at home or in a commercial premises. Workers in construction sites, industrial plants, and other premises are exposed to health hazards when they do not use the right industrial safety supplies such as gloves, respirators, protective clothing, safety glasses, and hearing protection.

Workers who get in contact with dangerous substances are likely to develop health conditions and diseases that could affect their lives. If you are exposed to harmful compounds, you may incur a lot of costs through treatment. The company bears the responsibility to meet the expenses incurred in treatment. Businesses lose money when workers become sick due to exposure to chemicals, and dust or personal injuries.

When performing home duties and cleanup tasks such as cleaning vents, floors, toilets, septic tanks and drainage lines, the chemicals contained in the cleaning agents may harm your body. Although the concentrations of the substances may be low, with long-term use of these products, you may suffer a chronic illness. Similarly, when you clean areas such as the vents, chimneys and dryer vents, you may breathe in dust and fungus spores that could cause harm in your body.

Dust can cause respiratory complications and it is the responsibility of employers to ensure that workers perform their duties in their protective clothing and equipments. The protective equipments and supplies may also include emergency lights and signs. The ability to respond to disasters whenever they occur can be improved by use of the right signs and posts placed at the correct locations.

Since smoking is banned in enclosed public buildings, you should use mandatory and prohibitory signs to curb the practice. Other signs like emergency lights can help workers during times of disasters. Whenever emergencies such as fire outbreaks occur, the employees should be able to find their way out of the premises fast. Installing signs showing exit points and emergency exits can help avert injuries or death when such accidents occur.

If you have workers who work in areas with high levels of noise, they should wear hearing loss protection equipment to prevent damages to their ears. Welders working in a company must protect their eyes. If you are employed as a welder, you need to ensure that your employer provides you with eyeglasses and protective clothes to shield your eyes and body from the harmful flames.

This is an additional cost to the business. In addition, businesses that record increased incidents of accidents are likely to be targeted for inspection by OSHA officers. The health and safety of workers is crucial for the success of a business. When workers feel that they are protected, they are likely to perform their duties better. However, if they discover that the employer does not care about their health and protection, they may become less concerned with their duties.

Workers who are injured may not report to their duties and this means lost man-hours. Businesses suffer from reduced productivity when workers stay at home to nurse injuries and recover from ailments they acquired due to lack of use of protective equips. You can purchase industrial safety supplies from the primed suppliers because they offer quality products that last for long.
