There are mortal men who were born not just to become a common type of person. Some of them have to be astounded with how the world leads them to become more than how an ordinary person can offer. Saints are some of these people and they have lived their lives more of what they have perceived. They have done things which ordinary men have not done. They are called to be a saint because God have buried them with the love and strength which are beyond compare.

It is why a saint is called such because he can sacrifice everything just for the sake of the people who needs them. They do not mind about their own. What is important for them are the lives of the folks and the goodness that they can impart to the cruel world. One holy person that appeals to the world is Saint Francis. Saint Francis was the son of Pietro di Bernardone and Pica de Bourlemont. His father came from a rich family and his mother from a notable one. He was born under the sign of Sagittarius on November 26, 1182. He was named Giovanni on his baptism yet it was recreated to Francesco.

The saint was called as the Patron of Animals, merchants and ecology. He is also the founder of the Order of Friars Minor which is also known as Franciscans. He is also considered as the first Italian poet which when writing uses the dialect of Umbria.

Saint Francis was luckily a part of a wealthy family. All his wants and needs are responded right away. He was lucky than most other children. When he took path by hearing the words of God, he then remarkably changed his footstep. He lived his life serving the sick and hungry folks.

When a war broke in 1202, he joined as one of the soldiers. His experience during the warfare was unforgivable and undesirable. He could not take all the drastic experiences away from his thoughts. He was even held as a prisoner because the enemies can use him for a payment. All the affluent soldiers have experienced what Francis had undergone.

When his family had payed his ransom, he was immediately freed by the enemy troops. Yet even when he was already a free man, the deep wounds that he encountered during the war has been carved deep inside him. He was sick in both mind and body. He could not picture out the things that he had viewed during the war. He could not put away the shock and the wounds during such tragic incident.

Francis was a really good man and he wanted to help in constructing the church. In order to get enough funds for the project, he stole the horse and cloth from his father. His father then became extremely angry. He was then asked to return the money to his father yet when he had done it, they could not believe their eyes. He stripped off his clothes. He returned the money to his father but he told them that it is only God whom he knows as a father.

When Francis got extremely ill, he received a sight from God. He was even left with a stigmata. The stigmata corresponds the wounds that Christ had obtained during the crucifixion. Though some people believed that those are just the marks which was caused by leprosy yet there are still a lot of them who believed that it is the work of God. He perished on October 3, 1226 at the age of 44.
