The 3 Biggest Challenges For Animation College Students

By Katie Arden

When it comes to animation, there is a tremendous amount to talk about. From the various styles to animation to some of the most beloved media in the public eye, it's clear that this is a subject worth learning about for various individuals. However, as important as it is to create the best work, college students must overcome a number of challenges in the process. If said challenges like these 3 are focused on, there's no doubt that success will be had.

One of the biggest challenges of animation is trying to figure out where to take a story. One cannot argue with the fact that animation requires narration, no matter how complex or simple the story in question may wind up being. Regardless, animation - at least in many cases - hinges on the type of story being told. If you are unable to go about something as simple as brainstorming, you are not going to thrive in your field once you finally graduate from school.

Coordination is a skill that begins in school and will not end even after you have graduated. It's important to make note of the fact that animation is a type of endeavor that houses a number of people with certain skills. Everything from the actual technological process to the efforts required in scriptwriting are not only useful but ones that can commonly be associated with animation in general. These individuals must be able to converse with one another and if you'd like to create the best works in animation, it's wise to never forget this.

In order for your animation efforts to become stronger, voice acting has to be set in place. No one can argue with this point, especially when considering the fact that characters in animation practically hinge on the voices, accents, and other elements of audio they are given. Before you even go about selecting individuals to voice your characters, they have to be given direction. Bring your vision to life through these actors but give them enough creative freedom to add their own tweaks, if they have any to integrate.

If you're looking at other challenges to overcome, you'd be best served going about further research. However, the points mentioned above are easily some of the most important to recognize, since animation entails various details. Your own skills in drawing and creating images will not be enough. Animation calls for much more but once you're able to cover these points, your ability to create the best works will be tough to overlook.
