Balloon Sculpting: Beyond Balloon Animals

By Vincent Aarodviss

Balloons are regular party decors, which may be made of Mylar to rubber. They inflate and sometimes are filled with helium to make them float. Balloons decorations are appropriate for occasions like birthday parties and even white balloons for weddings. Some balloons have writings in them others are just plain, but regardless of your preference, everybody loves balloons. Some people even perform using balloons as their device of choice to entertain. They twist elongated balloons to imitate the shape of familiar objects, mostly animals. Appropriately, these performers are called twisters.

They are paid to entertain children and adults alike during fun events. It doesn't matter what shape you want if you can name it, these professionals can make a balloon art out of it. Pumps are becoming a trend among twisters today , in contrast to the old school twisters that use their own lungs in blowing balloons. There are two types of balloon modeling; single balloon modeling and multiple balloon modeling.

The designs created by twisters using a single balloon are usually shapes of animals Twisters can make dogs, cats, giraffes among other animal shapes. Using a single balloon may be tricky because of the risk of popping the whole design. Using a single balloon may not impress people except children because of the small size and the limited designs.

What makes children really jump for joy is the multiple balloon modeling. Over the years there bigger and bigger models using more and more balloons. Because some of the largest and best models have become show pieces for major events, the art of multiple balloon modeling have been called balloons sculpting. Some twisters are not contented with knee-high animal shaped they create balloon decorations larger than an adult.

One twister even made an Optimus Prime model as tall as a person with balloons in Singapore. As long as the balloons used are more than one, the balloon art can be considered multiple balloon modeling. Some balloon sculpting use a platform to support very large designs but smaller designs are usually made of twisted balloons only. The larger designs are usually used as a center piece while smaller designs are still used in the twisters' acts to entertain guests.

Though the multiple balloon modeling may appear like a more complicated version of its single balloon counterpart, the skills required for each are very different. Professionals even make their own one of a kind set of equipments to give their creations an edge from other twisters.
