The Careers of Famous Artists from New Orleans

From the quantity of famous artists in New Orleans, it would seem there is a atmosphere about the city of New Orleans that draws creative types of people. The sound of Dixieland Jazz flows through the French Quarter harking back to the celebrated musician and native child Louis Armstrong. The trolleys clanging thru the town impressed the title of the Pulitzer Prize winning play "A Streetcar Named Need" by New Orleans transplant Tennessee Williams. There are many famous artists from New Orleans and a lot more who've replied to the call of the city 'and moved to the Crescent City to bask in the steam-laden, jasmine-scented atmosphere.

Enrique Alferez

Enrique Alferez (1901-1999) was an acclaimed sculptor who born and raised in Mexico and fought with Pancho Villa's armed forces before handling to escape to the U. S.. Enrique Alferez studied art in Chicago, and Alferez progress was fast because he had worked with his pop carving wooden non secular statues. Alferez discovered New Orleans on a trip home to Mexico in 1929. He lived in other cities in the U.S. as well but kept coming back to New Orleans for the remainder of his life. His work was in the Art Deco style and may be seen in many public locations around the city, including the botanical gardens and the roads of the Central Financial Area.

Harry Connick Jr.

Harry Connick Jr. Is a pianist, big-band leader/conductor, singer, composer, and actor who was born and got raised in New Orleans. By age 3, Connick was playing a keyboard and was just 9 when he performed a Beethoven concerto with the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra. His big break that makes him a famous artists from New Orleans came when the actor Rob Reiner commissioned him to compose the music for the sound track to the popular film "When Harry Met Sally". As well as his music, Connick has had roles in more than 20 films and on many Television and Broadway shows.

Donald Harrison

Donald Harrison, "The King of Nouveau Swing", is a saxophonist, band frontman and composer who is considered among the most vital musicians of the new millennium. He is one of the most talented musicians in the country. Harrison is a local of New Orleans and studied at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and Berklee Varsity of Music. He has mixed swing with other musical forms to make a sound that is iconic.

Anne Rice

Author Anne Rice is one of the New Orleans famous artists because of her masterful writing about vampires and other creatures in non-physical Gothic fiction. Her 100 million copies sold have also included Christian literature and erotica and make Rice one of the top selling writers in recent history. She is a native of New Orleans, whose Post Office-employee father also wrote. Her hubby was a poet, and her boy is a best-selling writer.
